We have gotten word today that an icon in Hip-Hop has passed away. Bushwick Bill of the Geto Boys will always be remembered as the wild one in the group from I can remember of my time watching and enjoying the Geto Boys music and videos. His role in the song "My Mind's Playing Tricks On Me", will forever by linked in my memory with a little person chasing children and robbing them for candy. The stand out part of the song's visual for me though is him fighting a man and in the end he was never there. Instead we see Bushwick punching the concrete and having a mental breakdown from his actions. This picture speaks volumes about the mind's of people and how the mind is fragile.

This also leads me to remember Bushwick Bill for the video "Ever so Clear", the telling single from his Little Big Man solo album. Bushwick Bill raps about drinking Ever Clear, which is a powerful alcoholic beverage, and how he wanted his lady to kill him and in the process he lost an eye. Bushwick Bill even though going through tragedy was beloved by the Hip-Hop community with opportunities to act like in one role he did on the Martin television show, and doing a gospel album in his career. Though Bushwick Bill has passed away from Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer, his legacy will live on in music, on the screen and with his family. Rest In Power Bushwick we will always remember your passion to live and the respect you earned for living your truth. Our minds will never play tricks on us when it comes to who you are and what you did. May The Most high grant you peace forever.

Today on March 31st 2019 we lost a real one, a man that stood for something more than the destruction of the Hip-Hop Community. When I first learned of Nipsey Hussle, I heard of a mixtape that was $1,000 and thought this dude right here better have some fire and little did I know he was a master builder with a plan. As I watched his career progress he did music of course but he impressed me with his business mind. This was the first rapper I ever heard talk about investing into crypto-currency and building the inner city using knowledge of computers to help mold the direction of growth in the hood. Nipsey was the total independent artist. We give Chance his due but Nipsey was the Hustler that disconnected from the game and beat the sport with its' own rules. Whether you love his music or questioned him due to gang affiliation you can not question his desire to give back and raise the mind state and economical status of the people.

With the movement of business commerce going to uplift people, Nipsey also was putting out visual lessons for the people as well. In many interviews he talked about ending hood beef. He also wanted to work on a documentary detailing the trial of Dr. Sebi in which he beat a trail where he proved he could cure AIDS, Diabetes and other diseases based on how people eat and live. Moves like this made Nipsey a special individual. He was not the rapper that promoted guns and violence when he spoke. It was a reality though that influenced his sound and motivated him to learn and want to do better not only for his family but for his community. Nipsey was a long term thinker, and trendsetter that has influenced people by his moves. Now we have to give honor to the tree by being fruit that continues to teach the lessons of motivation, economic growth, health and more importantly the desire to do better. We hear government conspiracies, and we hear hood stories about this tragic death. More importantly let us hear the respect and give it to his family. They lost a husband, a father, son, friend and so much more. May The Most High receive his spirit and he rest in peace. I challenge everyone that reads this to ask yourself "What happens to his legacy, and how do we carry it on now that he is gone?"

November 12th 2018 Stan Lee passed away and the throne king icon of the superhero genre has been left vacant. There are many kings that have come from the comic book world and Dwayne McDuffie is one of the ones I personally love. Yet, This article is for the man that gave many of us in the world the hero that embodies not only power but what we are defined by, and that is our humanity.

Racism, sexism, self-doubt, being a nerd, social awkwardness and the defining of family all came into comics from the mind of Stan Lee. The Fantastic Four are the first family in comics and through their change in acquiring powers we see a family grow together and save the world while dealing with how life changes around them. In Spider-Man we see the epic teenaged loser grow to become a man and pays off the debt to his late uncle to saving the world "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility". To many of us that see the racism and prejudice in the world the X-Men are the representation of how the world may see people that are different and wants to condemn them.

Stan Lee used the 1960s revolution of human and civil rights to create the X-Men and as he saw the world change he showed us how the world creates it's heroes and how the humans react to a world that fears them. The X-Men's Charles Xavier and Magneto are based on Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X respectfully as they lead to schools of thought in our world so they lead 2 ideals in the comic book world. Stan Lee was bigger than Marvel Comics though as he made heroes for DC Comics as well.

Stan Lee made a female flash, A luchador Batman, and other reimaginations of DC heroes through his school of thought, "Heroes are people with flaws too." His ability to create humanity in the scope of being a hero and how the human character reacts to tragedy and failure is what made Marvel Comic heroes some of the best ever created in the Modern Age of comic books. The Marvel Cinematic Universe benefits from this style of writing as we see people of all ages connecting to the humanity of the heroes on the screen and not just to see the powers that are displayed on the screen.

We have all lost a great contributor to our entertainment and journalistic lives. Stan Lee's cameos will be missed in the Marvel Movies and to everyone that ever met Stan Lee at a comic con you have taken away a small gift of what made the world appreciation him so much. You took away his genuine love for us as we all enjoyed his work as it came to life in our imaginations and in front of our very eyes.

Rest In Peace Stan Lee, and rest knowing we will continue to read and share your work with generations to come and appreciate all you have given us. "Excelsior"
